Loving and Encouraging People
Steven Reese was a former broadcaster and news anchor in North Carolina during the 80s. He gave his life to Christ in 1972. Growing up a Christian birthed a love for people that continued to grow throughout an early career in television.
In May of 2001, Steven Reese was driving through the Appalachian Mountains when the vision of preaching the gospel to the poor in spirit landed in his heart – a compelling that would include feeding and clothing the impoverished as well as teaching God’s love to people everywhere.
Those early days began with an obedience to commit His work unto the Lord while allowing for God to establish the plans for ministry.
Shortly after, Steven made a commitment to live for God while depending on Him for all needs to be met according to His riches in glory. After packing up the food in the kitchen one Saturday morning, he set out to find others that were hungry. God led that first expedition deep into the Appalachian Mountains where a single mother and young daughter lived on a dirt floor. There was no running water in the shack and they didn’t have any food to eat. The mother had been praying for God to send someone to help. He did and SRM became the unveiled plan of God for Steven’s life.
In 2005, SRM began broadcasting the works demonstrated by people accepting the privilege to live God’s Word into the lives of others. Steven says that; “In everything we do, we do it with an opportunity for someone to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Freedom begins for the captive the moment Love Himself shows up in their heart.”
In addition to the vision of reaching the un-churched and impoverished through a practical expression of God’s love through giving, Steven began teaching the Biblical principal of encouraging people through the message of love and faith. The principal of forming a life around the Word of God is the catalyst behind the teaching of SRM.
Today, multiple tons of food and life provision is distributed annually to the impoverished of Appalachia and beyond. Over 10,000 children are fed and clothed each year with the accompanying message of the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. A love that never fails!
