Press Release: 10/17/11

SRM of Boone, North Carolina, Steven Reese

Established in 2001, SRM has been ministering to the poor of the Appalachian Mountains for over a decade.  Steven Reese of SRM utilizes a specific distribution tactic that allows hundreds of impoverished families to be served and ministered to at one time.  This tactic is called the Day of Blessing Event.  The Day of Blessing Event keeps a festival atmosphere with edifying activities to help the needy change the way they see themselves.  Recipients are taught about the Love of Jesus, they are given an opportunity to accept Jesus as their Savior, and then their physical needs are met with a drive-through-style distribution.

After a successful decade of ministry—including over 100,000 families served, over 10,000 decisions for Christ and over 1,000 outreach events—SRM and Steven Reese continue to expand their efforts to the Native American Reservations of the Northwest.  Locations such as Boulder, Colorado  and the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming and other reservations surrounded by extreme poverty.

For example, Boulder, CO is a central location to over 100 Native American reservation.  The Uprising of ministry on the reservations are directed toward isolated pockets of poverty.  On these reservations, average annual incomes are as low as $5,000 per year.

This continued expansion is exponentially growing the outreach efforts of SRM and its partners.

Use Faith in an Imaginative Way! 7/8/11 Steven Reese

People are always asking; “How are you able to give over 600 tons of food away?”  My answer is, “It’s all faith, why not believe for the impossible.”  Hey, anybody can believe for the possible, but I figure that I can get that on my own.  Why not trust in God for the impossible?  That’s really using faith in an imaginative way!

The Act of Hearing 6/27/11 Steven Reese

I don’t know about you, but I need to hear the thing that’s good for me over and over.  You see, I know that the act of hearing is what’s going to give me that strength I need to get determined in my thoughts, my words, and my actions.  It’s the foundation and a discipline worth developing.

I Can't Do It Alone 6/20/11 Steven Reese

I’ve got great people who work with me.  I can’t do this ministry work alone.  I need a staff of people and I need them to be detail-conscious and help me in the areas that I’m not strong in.  I need them to do the things that I either can’t do as well, or don’t have time to do.  So, I pray for God to send me people that believe in my vision.  You’ll need to do the same thing.

Become One with His Word 6/14/11 Steven Reese

I keep thinking how the scripture is living and active.  John 1:1 says it’s the foundation of everything when it says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  That means that God is one with His own Word.  So, when we become one with His Word, then we’re linking ourselves up to Him, and He has the power to spark our faith and send us on the right path in the right plan for our lives, today!
