Shelter Rock meets the needs of the Appalachian Mountain impoverished with the giving love of Jesus Christ. The organization is a 501c3 non-profit, inter-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to identifying the poor of Appalachia and providing them with immediate relief.

Most Americans do not realize that within remote Appalachian Mountain areas of North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky, there are families that live in conditions that parallel that of the world's poorest developing nations.

Shelter Rock field teams facilitate for many families that still live on dirt floors. Frequently, they don't have plumbing and live a life of amazing contrast with that of others in the richest nation on earth. The children have inadequate clothing for the climate and the higher elevations subject the poor to the extreme cold of the Appalachian winters. Malnutrition is rampant and evident through the outward expression of dental decay and debilitating spinal and arthritic conditions at an early age.

Shelter Rock depends totally on the financial support of those who partner with us. Our partners are people who have seized an opportunity to be involved in God's work.
